Stillwater Sciences seeks a highly motivated mid-to-senior Restoration and Permitting Project Manager based out of our Berkeley or Davis office. This individual will serve as an experienced restoration and environmental permit compliance leader for projects based in the Sacramento/Delta region. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the regulatory context of Delta restoration and levee rehabilitation work as well as the evolving landscape of environmental regulations (e.g., new candidate/listed species, compensatory mitigation requirements, etc.).

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Project Manager for multiple Delta-based projects.
  • Manage levee repair, rehabilitation, and multi-benefit and DWR-funded restoration projects (e.g., flooding islands to create large areas of tidally influenced fish habitat, often large-scale and relatively complex).
  • Provide permitting support such 401 Water Quality Certifications, 404 USACE permits, CDFW Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreements, and CEQA.
  • Provide compliance support and monitoring in partnerships with the client, stakeholders, and agencies.
  • Represent Stillwater in project team meetings and public forums on technical and resource management issues.
  • Initiate and train staff to complete high-quality field efforts and analyses and provide mentorship and guidance on preparation of regulatory documents.
  • Provide final technical/editorial review of deliverables.
  • Prepare scopes of work and budgets for new opportunities.

Qualified applicants should ideally have the following skills or experience:
  • BS or higher degree in Fisheries Biology, Aquatic Ecology, Terrestrial Ecology, or related field with 8+ years of experience in the environmental field.
  • Demonstrated excellence with writing and verbal communications.
  • Experience preparing complex regulatory compliance documents and developing permitting strategies for local, state, and federal permits.
  • Proven ability to work well with collaborative project teams, regulatory agencies, and diverse stakeholders.

Qualified applicants should possess:
  • A valid driver's license in good standing and access to a personal vehicle for travel.
  • Valid work authorization in United States.

Availability, Compensation and Application Details:
  • Full-time position in Berkeley or Davis, CA.
  • Stillwater Sciences provides a competitive compensation package including a 401(k) plan, full health and dental care and an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) after entry criteria are met.
  • Annual salary $91,520-$104,000. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • Out-of-town work required (field work, meetings, and some conferences).
  • Hybrid schedule with minimum of 24 hours/3 days a week in the office.
  • Willingness to periodically travel and work long hours in the field or office to meet project needs.
