RF IMPLEMENTATION ENGINEER
To update, enhance and troubleshoot engineered solutions utilizing a combination of company and vendor manufactured equipment. This will result in a system that meets the criteria of the customer specifications and meets the technical and policy requirements of the company. Fully responsible for compliance with customer requirements, particularly regarding RF issues, and for directing the implementation of the system design through system acceptance.

RF IMPLEMENTATION ENGINEER

Fully responsible for compliance with customer requirements, particularly regarding RF issues, and for directing the implementation of the system design through system acceptance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Update compliant RF System designs based on customer's written requirements, the operating parameters of company standard components, and compliance with government regulations.
- Develop RF Design write-ups addressing the customer's performance requirements.
- Considers both the business and technical needs of the project with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user's needs.
- Determines the equipment required to support the RF design.
- Interfaces with Project Management to provide the needed information to provide the proposed system design.
- Integrates the inputs from Project Management teams to ensure a structured development process from concept to final acceptance.
- During the initiation project phase: travel to customer sites, as needed, to participate in kickoff meetings, conduct Site Surveys to determine the potential location of RF equipment, and identify materials needed to satisfy contract requirements, as well as identifying any potential issues that could affect the successful implementation of the project.
- Reviews and optimizes system site topology.
- Provide technical content for Critical Design Reviews.
- Develop and provide Implementation team with the RF "As-Build" parameters.
- Assists in keeping project on schedule.
- Interfaces with customer/vendor/subcontractor, as required, to meet goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS CONTINUED:
- Interfaces daily with departmental and non-departmental co-workers and managers, including Field Technical Representatives, Implementation Team, Staging and Project Management.
- During the implementation project phase: Work directly with the Implementation Team to ensure the parameters at each site or subsystem are accurate to the RF design parameters.
- Analyze the "As-Built" parameters, provided by the Implementation team, to determine the impact to RF performance.
- Provide input for Site Acceptance and System Acceptance Test Plan development and execution.
- Develop Coverage Acceptance, Optimization, and In-Building test procedures in accordance with established processes.
- Identify and assess project risk during the design and implementation processes.
- Interface with the project team and drive the resolution of any RF related implementation issues discovered during implementation of the system solution.
- Works with Technical Service Team to troubleshoot system-related issues.
- Performs special projects as directed by department manager.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science or Equivalent Experience
- Record of continuing radio industry education.
- Functional knowledge of computers and related software applications.
- Four or more years applicable land mobile radio (LMR) industry experience.
- Proficient at troubleshooting technical issues.
- Experience in the use propagation modeling tools preferred
- Experience in the use of mapping software
- Experience in land mobile radio system design per customer specifications.
- Microsoft Visio experience preferred.
- Experience in interfacing with vendors, customers, and subcontractors.
- Experience in support of negotiation of systems sales.
COMPETENCIES:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Proficient in RF system design and propagation analysis in accordance with engineering best practices
- Proficient in developing RF Design write-up or theory of operation for designed system
- Ability to present the RF System Design to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Ability to read system drawings and schematics.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize and display a sense of urgency based on actions required.
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
- Proven ability to conduct accurate vendor analysis.
