Risk Analyst

Corporate Finance - Loss Management & Insurance Services

Status: (1) Regular Full-Time position

Salary Range: $76,054 to $95,068 per annum

Work Mode: Hybrid *see below for more details about this work mode

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Location: 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite

As a Risk Analyst, you will play a key leadership role in the proactive identification, analysis, and treatment of insurable risk for the Region of Peel, Peel Regional Police, and Peel Housing Corporation. You will help shape and guide the insurable risk management strategy, providing expert insights and recommendations to promote and enhance the safety, security, and financial stability of the organizations.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Risk Financing: Working with internal client groups throughout the organization and Peel's insurance providers, maintains the necessary underwriting information in respect of organizational assets and operations to support effective insurance risk transfer; verifies insurance declarations, policies and schedules when issued; and manages all mid-term policy endorsements and certificates of insurance.
  • Strategic Risk Treatment: liaising with Peel's insurance providers, provides guidance to internal client groups to mitigate insurable risk exposures, including but not limited the coordination of site inspections and process reviews.
  • Data Management: Is one of the key staff to support and administer the section's data entry and reporting applications to ensure data integrity and to generate reports that inform client groups of loss experience in order to influence mitigation strategies.
  • Financial Management: Drawing on exceptional financial experience, process the payment of invoices for insurance premiums and review and reconcile payment information within the section's claims database and the organization's general ledger; and develop and review section reports to illustrate the financial consequence of the organization's loss experience.
  • Industry Expertise: Conduct in-depth research on emerging risks and industry trends, ensuring that the organizations stay ahead of evolving hazards and maintain up-to-date risk management practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continuous process improvements and risk management initiatives, working collaboratively to enhance the effectiveness of risk strategies across the organizations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Provide project support as needed, leveraging your risk management expertise to drive success in cross-functional initiatives.


Qualifications:
  • Relevant University degree or college diploma combined with 5 to 7 years of insurance, with a focus on commercial underwriting, and risk management experience
  • CIP preferred or working towards CIP considered in conjunction with experience
  • DXC Assure suite experience is preferred - thorough understanding of such applications and the ability to develop and design reports leveraging the data and trends from such applications


Skills/Ability:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent data management and presentation software skills especially in a risk management context
  • Ability to work flexibly within specified deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment
  • Demonstrated excellent planning and organizational skills


Nice to have:
  • CRM designation considered a strong asset
  • Knowledge of Ontario municipal operations
  • Experience with contract management and contract indemnification and insurance requirements clauses
  • Advanced computer and analytical skills, including knowledge of and proficiency in Microsoft Office. PeopleSoft Financials would be considered an asset

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you'll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected along with occasional travel to attend site inspections or meetings at Regional facilities or as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.
