Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Specialty: Oncology - Pediatric Pulmonology
Job Duration: 13-week contract
Shift: Day, 0800-1700
Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 per week
Experience: Oncology experience required; proficiency in IV therapy, bone marrow, spinals, thoracenteses, paracenteses, and phlebotomy preferred. Oncology certification preferred.
License: Active compact RN license or RN license in the state of practice.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross, Chemo/Bio/Immunotherapy certification (ONC and ONS not accepted).
Must-Have: Ability to independently run a Medical Oncology clinic, assist with patient treatment plans, perform high-level patient/phone triage, serve as a clinical liaison, provide phlebotomy skills, and access port-a-cath. Ability to triage and prioritize oncology emergencies/crises via phone.
Job Description:
- Collects data pertinent to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation.
- Analyzes assessment data to determine actual or potential diagnoses, problems, and issues.
- Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation.
- Develops a plan that prescribes strategies to attain expected, measurable outcomes.
- Implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
- Delegates elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers in accordance with legal or policy parameters.
- Evaluates progress toward attainment of goals and outcomes.
- Practices in a manner that is congruent with cultural diversity and inclusion principles.
- Communicates effectively in all areas of practice.
- Collaborates with healthcare consumers and key stakeholders in the conduct of nursing practice.
- Demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession.
- Seeks knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice and promotes futuristic thinking.
- Integrates evidence and research findings into practice.
- Contributes to quality nursing practice.

Physical Requirements:
- Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
- Must be able to lift and support the weight of up to 35 pounds when handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must speak English in clear, understandable terms.
- Requires intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch; finger dexterity; critical thinking; and ability to concentrate.
- Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
Please note: Additional skills include administering treatments, educating patients on chemotherapy, and the ability to manage oncology emergency situations effectively. A BSN is preferred.
