Job Title: Registered Nurse - Cath Lab
Profession: RN
Specialty: Cath Lab
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours per Shift: 10 hours
Experience: Minimum 2 years cath lab experience
License: Currently licensed with the applicable State Nursing Board and/or possess multistate licensure privileges as required.
Certifications: ACLS and BLS required
Must-Have:
- Graduation from a NLN or AACN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred.
- ACLS certified.
Description:
The position requires the administration and monitoring of conscious sedation during procedures.
The nurse will circulate in a sterile environment.
Procedures include left and right heart catheterizations, PCIs, temporary and permanent pacemakers, ICDs, EP procedures, TEEs and cardioversions, venous ablations, and peripheral vascular angiograms.
Equipment utilized in the unit includes Pyxis, XIM (Philips monitoring system), Epic, Xcelera, ultrasounds, Angiojets, EKOS machines, and Acist contrast injection system.
Orientation will typically be 4-6 shifts, depending on experience.
Orientation will focus on charting and physician equipment preferences.
The nurse may be required to work 4-10 hour shifts per week.
Call shifts are required, with an expectation of 1 call shift per week and call every 6th weekend.
Holiday call may also be required.
Additionally, the nurse may be mandated into call shifts as needed.
The nurse to patient ratio is 1:19.
30 patients are averaged per day in this unit.
Scrubs are provided for this position.
Response time for call is expected to be within 30 minutes.
