University of Washington Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for an RN Clinical Abstractor. This position is responsible for providing an analysis of aortic procedures clinical data for the purpose of reporting out on compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as external regulatory requirements. The RN Clinical Abstractor reviews clinical documentation, inputs data from the clinical documentation into the appropriate registry, makes judgments regarding the completeness of that documentation as it relates to UW Medical Center compliance with regulatory and registry requirements, and submits analysis via internal and external registries for reporting purposes.

WORK SCHEDULE

Position is full time, day shift, hybrid of in-office and remote work.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review medical records for specific conditions, treatments and interventions for the purpose of abstracting clinical data for entry into a variety of internal and external clinical data registries.
  • Independently identify and document registry elements based on internal and external protocols.
  • Review various sources of data to assess the quality of care/practice/and or service. Ensure that appropriate faculty, staff and/or committees are kept informed of performance and lead or participate in improvement efforts as needed.
  • Encourage and promote the use, analysis, and display of data to identify opportunities to improve the quality of care, practice and service to all customers. Monitor trends and patterns using collected data, and determine in conjunction with individuals/teams if an opportunity for improvement exists.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the documentation of conditions, treatments and interventions to ensure that the medical record contains a complete record of all patient care provided
    REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience with and skilled in chart abstraction and submitting to registries. Experience with cardiac registries preferred.
  • Three years nursing experience with cardiology patients in an acute care inpatient or outpatient setting.
  • Proficient in the use of excel and other database tools.
  • Active license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington required by start date.
