Description:
The RN Manager directs the delivery of professional nursing services for assigned teams. This position is responsible for the overall planning, budgeting, staffing, performance, and Nursing teams operations in conjunction and collaboration with clinic dyad leadership teams. This position will directly supervise assigned staff throughout multiple clinics across Central Oregon while partnering with clinic dyad leadership teams at each site ensuring excellence within the nursing team.

People Management
- Ensure nursing staff work efficiently and effectively with providers and clinic staff to resolve problems, optimize the patient experience, collaborate with team members, and maximize productivity
- Manage performance of the team, conduct monthly meetups, and provide real-time and consistent coaching with all direct reports
- Ensure accountability of team, including but not limited to adherence with policies, procedures, guidelines, workflows, compliance, and safety requirements, etc., addressing attendance, performance, and behavior concerns including corrective action if necessary
- Consult with Human Resources to support employee relations, performance achievement, training, employee engagement, etc.
- Hold consistent and timely team meetings to communicate organization, site, and/or department information, changes, initiatives, etc.
- Obtain leadership approval and manage all recruitment and hiring for team. Maintain position control in collaboration with the Director of Nursing including the addition and deletion of positions related to budget and human resource needs.
- Effectively monitor onboarding of new hires, ensure on-going training and development for all staff.
- Manage time off requests and approve timecards for direct reports or as delegated, and monitor to ensure staff takes required breaks and lunches
- Model cultural competency and facilitate the growth and development of a culturally competent team in the provision of appropriate care to patients and family members who belong to diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences.
Patient Care
- Work closely with clinic dyad leadership teams regarding clinical support needs.
- May participate in the development and oversight of clinical programs and/or initiatives.
- Create a healing environment that supports all aspects of care, respects the wholeness of the individual, and demonstrates therapeutic presence through attitudes and behaviors that enhance the care experience for patients and
- Foster a just and safe culture, implement and manage safety directives and goals applicable to nursing.
Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance
- Partner with clinic dyad leadership teams to support performance of key performance indicators, balanced scorecard measures, and other organizational goals related to nursing.
- Collaborate with clinic dyad leadership teams to review processes and identify/implement opportunities for improvements related to nursing.
- Oversee trending of care coordination quality and financial indicators, identifying and implementing improvements.
- Champion change initiatives, communicate and demonstrate support for change, coach staff through the change process.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Value Improvement, and Population Health staff and clinic dyad leadership team on the development and implementation of initiatives, work efforts, patient identification and needs assessment, and communication related to nursing.
- Partner with Clinical Educator to develop and implement standardized onboarding, training, and competencies for nursing.
- Partner with Clinical Educator to lead/facilitate annual skills day, policy review and education for all Nurses to ensure competency.
- Model two-way communication of the Mosaic mission, vision, values, balanced scorecard, and strategic plan for the department (staff meetings, rounds, tiered huddles, etc.).
Administration
- Develop and monitor operational performance metrics inclusive of improving patient access to care, vacancy, and turnover rates for RN team.
- Participate in drafting, reviewing, and revising clinical procedures, guides, and other documents related to nursing.
- Maintains ongoing communication with staff, clinic leadership, and others to ensure needs are being met for staff and patients. Engages staff to obtain input on the operation of the department and key decisions.
- Partner with Nursing Director to develop and implement annual plan including goals for the nursing team.
- Facilitate system RN team meetings, participate in Tier 1 and 2 huddles, and participate in or lead system-level committees and workgroups.
- Ensure teams compliance with Tier 1 huddles daily and promptly follows up with closed loop communication on concerns raised by nursing staff or related to nursing.
- Partner with Clinic Manager as a real-time resource and to provide nursing clinical expertise in support of critical incident, patient grievance and patient complaint resolution for those related to nursing. Complete appropriate documentation and monitor reports/trends to ensure timely communication and/or education to patients and/or nursing staff.
- Travel to clinics across the health system on a regular basis.
Work Experience:
- Required: Minimum of five years of nursing clinical experience in acute and/or ambulatory care. Minimum of three years of people management experience, preferably across multiple sites. Experience in Lean/process improvement and program development. Nursing leadership experience preferred.
- Preferred: Two years of public health or FQHC experience.
Education, certification and licensure:
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and/or bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Current, unrestricted Oregon RN License; BLS/CPR Certification; Valid Oregon State driver's license
- Preferred: Masters Degree in Nursing or relevant field
Skills & Knowledge:
- Required: Superior nursing process skills. Critical thinking and problem solving skills. Ability to train and teach staff. Excellent written, verbal, telephone and interpersonal communication skills. Understanding of patient and family-centered care concepts. Strong organizational skills. Basic typing and computer skills and comfort with Microsoft Windows operating system.
- Preferred: Involvement with quality improvement processes. EHR experience - EPIC experience a plus. Knowledge of health insurance plans, standard office policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements including CLIA and OSHA standards.
