Job Title: Clinical Nurse
Job Specialty: Ambulatory Care Nursing
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Varied hours - 9 am-5 pm non-procedural days / 6 am or 6:30 am - 3 pm on GI procedural days, 5x8 Hr
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: 2 years of ambulatory experience, minimum 2 years as RN/LPN, 1 year of travel experience for travel positions preferred
License: NYS RN/LPN License
Certifications: BLS
Must-Have: EPIC experience highly preferred
Job Description:
- Deliver patient care by incorporating the principles of Relationship-Centered Care and applying the nursing process based on theory, research, and evidence-based practice.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs and utilize critical thinking in patient care management.
- Integrate relevant assessment and intervention skills in nursing care delivery.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the care plan.
- Prioritize patient care, including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning after-hospital care, and delegating tasks as appropriate.
- Educate patients and caregivers about their care plan, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family members, and all healthcare team members.
- Manage assignments effectively, demonstrating allocation of material resources.
- Model the principles of Relationship-Centered Care through actions like Admission Welcome, Bedside shift Report, and Purposeful Hourly Rounding.
- Consider patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in care delivery.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Use evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care.
- Initiate service recovery for patients and family members with concerns and escalate as needed.
- Support staff use of evidence-based practices for understanding patients' care perceptions.
- Practice safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating improvement opportunities.
- Demonstrate essential clinical skills and knowledge for quality and safety.
- Implement process improvement strategies based on evidence-based guidelines.
- Engage in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on quality improvement projects and nursing research.
- Utilize information technology for documenting nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
- Coordinate with the management team to ensure sufficient supplies for patient care.
- Address material or staffing resource deficits with the management team.
- Demonstrate patient-focused and cost-effective approaches in terms of equipment, staff, and supplies.
- Document thoroughly in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
- Contribute to the care environment to support colleagues, patients, and their families.
- Advance clinical competence to progress from novice to expert.
- Project a professional image and communicate with caring, respect, compassion, and empathy.
