Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Specialty: Surgical Services - Operating Room
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8-hour days (Typically 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Mon-Fri)
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in the Operating Room with a strong Ortho background
License: Active RN license required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) recommended
Must-Have:
- At least 3 years of Operating Room experience
- Strong background in Orthopedics
- Some experience in endoscopy
- Previous travel experience is preferred
Job Description:
- Surgical Services unit with 4 operating suites and 1 endoscopy suite
- Average of 8 cases per day
- Common case types: Orthopedics (total joints, sports medicine, hands and trauma), General Surgery, Gynecology, C-sections, Endoscopy
- No scrubbing required for RNs
- Support from Charge Nurse, Assistant Nurse Manager, Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs), and RN scrub personnel
- Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system and TDOC for instrument tracking
- ProVation used for Endoscopy documentation
- Blue scrubs provided as per surgical services attire policy
- Participation in call rotations: 1 weeknight/week, 1 weekend/month, and holidays if applicable
- Must be within 30 minutes of the hospital while on-call
- Orientation includes a 5-day period paired with a preceptor to discuss unit norms and system values
- The team helps cover endoscopy and CSTs are expected to have some Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and high-level disinfection (HLD) experience
Additional Information:
- Facility has a radius rule of 50 miles for candidates
- Travel experience preferred but not required
- Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts per the 13-week assignment
