Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Specialty: Cardiac Cath Lab
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 10-hour Days, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Every Other Weekend, First to Float
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 3 years
License: Current CA RN License
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Must be through AHA)
Must-Have: Experience with Cath Lab procedures and familiarity with Cerner EMR System
Job Description:
- Work in a Cardiac Cath Lab that consists of 5 suites: 2 for coronary cases, 1 for peripheral cases, 1 for vascular & neuro cases, and 1 for electrophysiology cases.
- Handle varying case loads, ranging from 10 to 22 cases per day, including Cardiac/Coronary, Vascular, Peripheral, General Interventional Radiology, and Neuro intervention cases.
- Perform conscious sedation and manage airways, as well as cardiac drips like Integrilin, dopamine, and vasopressins.
- Be comfortable with procedural processes and use of balloon pumps.
- Conduct basic EKG interpretation, with more advanced interpretation required for critical care RNs.
- Orientation includes 12 hours that cover essential unit functions, including the assigned EKG interpretation test.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination with two techs during procedures; one scrubs, and another monitors hemodynamics.
- Collaborate with a Charge Nurse who oversees patients in the holding room, pre and post-procedure.
- Work flexible hours with varying start times between 6:30 AM and 8:00 AM based on the case schedule.
- Participate in a rotation for handling call shifts for inpatient and emergent cases, occurring once a week and one weekend per month.
- Hospital-provided scrubs must be worn during shifts.
