Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
Job Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room RN
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8, 10-hour Days, 0645-1515, Monday to Friday
Guaranteed Hours: 32 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 3 years of CVOR experience
License: RN License Required
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
Must-Have:
- Willingness to cross-train into general operating room if cardiovascular volumes are low
- Experience with open hearts, CABG, and valve procedures
Job Description:
- Work in a department with two CVOR suites
- Handle 1-3 cases per day, covering all thoracic and vascular cases, including open hearts, thoracotomies, VATS, Convergent, AAA, carotid surgeries, robotic cases, ECMO, and Impella 5.5
- Participate in a self-scheduling system for shifts; call requirements include 1-2 times per week and weekends every 3-4 weeks
- Willingness to work rotating holidays with 15-minute call response time; sleep room provided for post-call reprieve
- Flexibility to float and support other departments if needed; assist without taking patients but help with tasks as needed
- Dress code includes provided scrub colors
Candidates should be able to work collaboratively in a charge nurse-led environment, utilize EPIC EMR, and complete a structured orientation process which includes clinical, EPIC class, and unit-specific orientation, followed by buddy call shifts.
