Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Cath Lab
Job Specialty: Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 4 days, 10-hour shifts (7 AM - 5:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 6 PM), with on-call and float requirements
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified
License: Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the state or hold a compact/multi-state license
Certifications: Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card, ACLS required
Must-Have: Electrophysiology experience including ablations and LAAOs
Job Description:
- Perform patient assessments considering physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs, and functional abilities. Communicate assessments effectively.
- Plan and prioritize patient care based on assessments. Evaluate patient progress and adjust care plans to achieve outcomes. Involve patients and families in care planning and evaluation.
- Demonstrate clinical competencies specific to the cath lab and electrophysiology, as outlined in departmental standards.
- Assess patient and family learning needs, plan and provide education, and evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching. Involve other disciplines as necessary.
- Identify and address ethical issues in patient care, providing care in a manner that respects patient diversity and rights. Act as a resource for others in ethical dilemmas.
- Initiate and engage in collaborative dialogue with physicians and coordinate multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care.
- Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring the patient's needs are heard and respected.
- Provide nursing care that meets regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes.
- Demonstrates knowledge of nursing theory and practice to deliver and evaluate patient care.
- Recognize common safety hazards and implement precautions to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Additional responsibilities include performing various duties as required for the role. Candidates should also possess skills in problem-solving, documentation, and effective communication with patients, families, and medical staff. Proficiency in critical thinking and calmness under emergency situations is essential.
