Description:
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.
Attends educational programs based on identified learning needs.
Uses patient education materials relevant to patient population with assistance.
Assesses readiness to learn of patient, family, and caregivers.
Assesses the developmental level of the patient and factors affecting the ability to learn.
Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance as needed in revision of care plan.
Participates in discussions with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care.
Communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
Performs bedside point of care testing as required for the patient care plan.
Utilizes healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care.
Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient and family needs.
Consults with appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues, those with unusual teaching needs, and those at high risk for discharge planning.
Develops goals to promote professional growth or to minimize limitations with assistance.
Achieves goals and objectives within identified time frame or renegotiates with a supervisor.
Participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
Effectively uses communication systems to promote collaboration and cost-effective care.
Gives feedback to co-workers and is aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare environment.
Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all.
Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care.
Includes appropriate physical, psychosocial, education, and safety needs in patient assessment.
