Description
As a Roadway Project Engineer, you will play a key role in our organization, independently applying, planning, designing, directing, organizing, executing, and recommending related activities of various roadway improvement projects in the Carolinas. You will be involved in a diverse range of transportation-related projects for both public and private clients such as new location, widening, bicycle & pedestrian, highway safety, intersection, interchange, and design-build projects across all phases of a project life from advanced planning to final design and construction support.

Description
As a Roadway Project Engineer, you will play a key role in our organization, independently applying, planning, designing, directing, organizing, executing, and recommending related activities of various roadway improvement projects in the Carolinas. Your Primary Responsibilities will include
- Providing professional engineering design services for transportation improvements projects
- Overseeing design development and production of construction details, plans, specifications, and estimates including detailed engineering calculations
- Collaborating with clients, sub-consultant partners, technical staff, and managers across multiple disciplines to develop quality deliverables within schedule and budgetary requirements
- Directing and mentoring design support staff
- Conduct engineering investigations and planning work by completing well-defined tasks including collection and analysis of data; performing routine calculations, and participating in evaluating the feasibility of alternate solutions
What you'll need
- Bachelor of Science from an ABET-accredited university in Civil Engineering North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to attain within 1 year
- 4 - 8 years of transportation roadway design experience
- NCDOT roadway design experience (preferred)
- Proficiency in MicroStation and GEOPAK. OpenRoads experience is a plus
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of AASHTO and State DOT design standards Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
- Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment
