Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Rotating Equipment Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and hands-on experience in the oil and gas or related industries. This role requires a proactive approach to reliability, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of rotating machinery systems.

About the Position:
  • Provide day-to-day on-site, and off-site, technical assurance and support for rotating equipment.
  • Initiate and complete MOCs for design changes.
  • Ensure that rotating equipment and accompanying systems meet current best practices and industry standards while optimizing safety, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Provide recommendations for improving "bad actor" equipment and develop/ repair scopes for rotating equipment
  • Assist Operations and Maintenance in troubleshooting and improving other rotating equipment systems, such as compressors, centrifuges, vacuum pumps, etc.
  • Work with multi-discipline teams to maintain a synergistic approach to equipment design and provide commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting support to ensure successful project implementation, improvements, and reliability
  • Assist the Project Engineering group on pump sizing and pump selection for new and existing projects and conduct failure analysis and root cause analysis on failed pumps/pumping systems
  • Provide Vibration Analysis Support for long and short-term reliability issues, such as: monitoring vibration and temperature data on critical machines & rotating equipment and analyze vibration data
  • Develop/Prepare purchase specifications/data sheets for Rotating Equipment

Education and Experience:
  • 5-10 years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Bachelor's or higher-level degree in Mechanical Engineering required or equivalent of 10-15 years of field/refinery experience in Rotating Equipment

Physical Requirements:
  • Outside work often requires moderate physical exertion including climbing scaffolding, kneeling, bending, taking field measurements and walking projects
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). This includes hardhat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, still toed shoes, or other equipment as required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.

Required Skills/ Abilities:
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of rotating plant equipment and good knowledge of materials, failure mechanisms, fabrication and repair processes and procedures
  • Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes required
