Description:

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Supply Chain, the Director of Transportation oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of product shipments from production to the end-user including intercompany shipments. They are responsible for developing the strategy and managing logistics and ensuring that shipments are handled efficiently, safely and within budget. The successful candidate will have a strategic and tactical mindset to accomplish the overall company goals.

Essential Functions

The Director of Transportation plans and supervises shipments, schedules routes, tracks orders, coordinates with warehouse workers, monitors transportation costs, ensures compliance with shipping regulations, and maintains records. They also handle ERP functionality related to shipping, logistics software, conduct safety audits, and organize training sessions for employees. The Transportation manager is critical to managing the transportation aspect of the supply chain and ensuring smooth, timely and cost-efficient delivery of goods.

Responsibilities
Develop the company wide transportation strategy to support the operational goals
Identify/select and/or utilize a TMS that best fits the business needs
Plan and supervise shipments from production to the end-user for all RiteScreen sites
Schedule daily and weekly routes for all sites
Track orders using functional systems (e.g. barcodes and tracking software)
Coordinate with Operations to ensure proper storage and distribution of products
Monitor and report on transportation costs
Ensure shipping documents are properly filed
Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment
Research and suggest cost-effective shipping methods
Conduct regular safety audits on equipment
Organize training sessions for employees (e.g. proper use of machines and handling of hazardous material)
Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders
Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations

Education, Experience, Skills Education:
BSc in Supply Chain, Logistics or relevant field

Experience:
7-10 years as Transportation Management or similar role

7-10 years experience in a high-volume shipping environment
Negotiating freight contracts to support multi-site operations
Working with a TMS to support logistics management
Experience Preparing and tracking orders
Ability to supervise and train staff remotely
EPICOR Experience, Kinetix preferred

Skills:
Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
Exhibits strong leadership skills with particular emphasis on relationship development
Ability to communicate and present to multiple management levels.
High attention to detail
Microsoft Office skills
Data-driven with demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems and strong proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of industry best practices and value chain analytics

Location
Position will be located in Elizabethville, PA, Hialeah, FL, or Elizabethton, TN

Travel Requirement: up to 50% Annually
