At Utility Technologies, Inc., we are seeking a Safety/Fleet Manager who will offer expert knowledge in Safety and Health matters, deliver training to employees, and ensure adherence to Federal, State, and Local safety and health regulations. Ideal candidates will possess the ability to provide extensive expertise in these areas and support the workforce in maintaining compliance. Additionally in this role you will be responsible for managing the fleet and equipment. This includes overseeing maintenance, repairs, and tracking activities, and managing the WEX fuel program. Please note that this position will require travel both in state and nationally with an estimated travel commitment of up to 50%.

Responsibilities

What you'll do as a Safety & Fleet Manager

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations for all operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and requirements.
  • Perform accident investigations and root cause analyses for workplace injuries and vehicle collisions.
  • Conduct facility inspections and risk assessments, addressing all findings and observations.
  • Develop and update safety and health programs as directed.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled job site inspections for regulatory and safety compliance.
  • Ensure project managers and employees adhere to company policies and inspection protocols.
  • Confirm Job Safety Observations (JSOs) and Job Task Safety Analysis (JTSA) inspections are completed by project foreman and supervision.
  • Inspect aerial and underground operations to verify trained and certified employees are conducting work appropriately.
  • Administer and implement fleet and equipment maintenance, including operation hours, mileage, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure all vehicles and equipment are maintained according to company standards.
  • Handle invoicing for all fleet and equipment-related assets.
  • Inspect weekly vehicle mileage reports to ensure scheduled maintenance.
  • Partner with Dycom fleet personnel and vendors to manage vehicle upfits.
  • Coordinate the delivery of new equipment and vehicles, documenting according to company requirements.
  • Manage vehicle and trailer records including titles, licensing, inspections, and DOT compliance.
  • Prepare old vehicles/equipment for auction and ensure timely delivery to auctions.
  • Analyze the condition of existing fleet and equipment and make recommendations for replacements.
  • Work with Field leadership to ensure proper repairs and preventative maintenance are being performed.
  • Manage WEX fuel program including invoicing and daily reporting.
  • Coordinate asset relocation and collection activities.
  • Communicate with Finance regarding fleet invoicing.
  • Negotiate pricing for repair rates with maintenance vendors.
  • Partner with IT on yearly audits and asset tracking.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

What you'll need

  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this company
  • Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science or Management, Engineering, or other relevant qualifications and work experience
  • Minimum 5 years of Construction safety related experience and/or training with 3-5 years of telecommunications specific construction safety work; and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) requirements
  • Knowledge of all relevant Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, documentation, and tracking per operating state
  • Relevant certifications (eg: CSP, OSHA 30, First Aid CPR trainer)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Motivated and creative to address and correct observed safety behaviors
  • Able to manage multiple projects and tasks at the same time with the ability to reprioritize workload to business demands
  • Able to work autonomously as well as within a cohesive safety team environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office programs and Google suite
  • Hold a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record
  • Travel throughout Alaska as necessary; 50% field responsibility, company vehicle provided
  • Knowledge pertaining to vehicle maintenance and repairs is preferred
  • Experience supervising a team


Physical Abilities & Exposures:

Routinely:
  • Standing - 2 to 4 hours daily.
  • Walking - 2 to 4 hours daily.
  • Sitting - 6 to 8 hours daily.
  • Driving - up to 4 to 6 hours daily.
  • Travel primarily in Alaska, with occasional trips , with an estimated travel commitment of up to 50%.
  • Use keyboard and mouse, use hands to finger, feel, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear, lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves up to 60 pounds

Compensation

$80 - $90K Annually
