Description:

Ambyint is a SaaS company that provides an Industrial IoT platform, leveraging physics-influenced AI models, plus closed-loop control to enable autonomous operations. As a result, we are an instrumental part of the climate technology evolution and a market leader in production optimization for the energy industry. We deliver step-change improvements to our customers by combining advanced physics, subject matter expertise, and data-informed insights with AI to automate operations and production optimization workflows. We're coming off a strong year and are setting even higher ambitions for the future. To help us reach the next level, we're looking for a SCADA Data Engineer to join our team.

As a SCADA Data Engineer, you will report to the Integration Lead and play a key role in developing scalable, cloud-based solutions that optimize artificial lift performance in the oil and gas industry. In this position, you'll serve as the bridge between field-level SCADA systems and our advanced analytics platforms, helping to shape the future of data integration and real-time decision-making.

You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to blend SCADA data into our cloud architecture, enabling powerful insights and automation through open platform technologies. From building and refining ETL/ELT pipelines to exploring new protocols and streaming architectures, your work will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of what's possible in energy optimization.

Beyond technical execution, you'll help cultivate a culture of experimentation, agility, and continuous improvement. We're looking for someone who thrives in the Cloud, embraces open standards, and brings curiosity and initiative to the table.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Work both independently and collaboratively to deliver high-impact products to market
  • Act as a key member of the data integration team, blending SCADA data and transferring it into scalable, cloud-based architectures using open platform technologies
  • Design, build, and maintain robust data lake infrastructure and ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Prioritize open standards and open-source solutions before evaluating proprietary tools
  • Partner with software and data science teams to develop scalable, cloud-native processes for experimentation, analysis, and commercial deployment
  • Drive innovation by prototyping new ideas, experimenting quickly, and incorporating fast feedback loops
  • Live, breathe, and build in the Cloud
  • Apply Agile methodologies-SCRUM, Kanban-to move fast and iterate efficiently

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with SCADA and HMI systems-experience with Ignition, Cygnet, or XSPOC is a plus
  • Strong understanding of SCADA communications, including client/server protocols (OPC, Modbus, TCP/IP), polling strategies, architecture, and networking technologies
  • Proficient in SQL and scripting languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python
  • Familiar with open communication protocols like MQTT/SparkplugB
  • Experience with message queuing and stream processing tools such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or Amazon SQS
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT best practices for scalable data integration
  • Collaborative team player with experience working in Agile, cross-functional environments
  • Experience using Jira and Confluence to manage tasks, track progress, and document technical workflows

WHAT SETS YOU APART

  • The gratification of a job well done comes from the satisfaction of your 'customers'.
  • It's in your nature to be efficient and do it really well, while you always deliver on what you promise.
  • Your strengths come from collaborating with others.
  • You thrive on both technical challenges and the opportunity to develop and empower the people around you.
  • Continuous learning and improvement are part of your mantra.
  • You appreciate feedback and see it as a chance to grow, not a critique.
  • You care about the customer experience and take satisfaction in building user-friendly solutions.
  • You are curious, creative, biased for action, and love solving problems.
  • You don't assume that you are the best and have the humility to learn from others.
