Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Principal(s), provide students (9-12) comprehensive school counseling plan.
Minimum Qualifications:
- NYS Certification as a School Cunselor
- Successful prior experience as a counselor preferred.
- College admission experience
- Valid Drivers License.
Primary Activities
:Grades 9-12 Duties
- College admission experience
- Provide direct and indirect services to students who are new to Yorktown Central School District and Yorktown High School to facilitate the transition and connectedness.
- Continually monitor student progress and make adjustments to support as needed.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators and clinical team as needed.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

- Knowledge of pre/post high school program eligibility requirements.
- Knowledge of college/university admissions processes, scholarship programs and other educational opportunities.

- Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
- is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Is regularly required to climb, squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and to reach above the head and reach forward.
- Is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls and to talk and hear.
- Regular drive between school buildings.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or push up to 25 pounds.
- Must have specific vision abilities for close vision, distance vision, depth perception and tell the difference between colors
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is typical for a school environment.
- The manager continuously interacts with the public and other staff and frequently meets multiple demands from several people.
