Job Description
The Department of Pediatrics, in the Heersink School of Medicine at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a qualified candidate for an open rank, twelve-month faculty position within the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition to join our established Intestinal Rehabilitation Program. The position incorporates both outpatient and inpatient clinical care, teaching, and participating in scholarly activities such as program building, quality improvement initiatives, and/ or research. The successful candidate will be involved in graduate medical education activities through clinical education.
The selected candidate will join our Center for Advanced Intestinal Rehabilitation multidisciplinary program, which currently serves as the referral center for the state of Alabama and neighboring states. Currently, we provide care for over 160 patients, 60 of which are on parenteral nutrition to some degree. The team includes a pediatric gastroenterologist, pediatric surgeon, nurse practitioner, dietitian, pharmacist, social worker, and program manager. Clinical services provided include weekly multidisciplinary clinics, weekly consulting rounds in the NICU and inpatient GI teams, and once monthly satellite clinics in Dothan and Huntsville, Alabama. Current program development goals include furthering our research umbrella and refining ongoing clinical services, particularly on the inpatient side.
With more than 2 million square feet, COA is the third largest pediatric medical facility in the U.S. COA offers inpatient and outpatient services across its Russell Campus on Birmingham's historic Southside with additional outpatient services provided at Children's South and Children's on 3rd. Primary care is provided at more than a dozen medical offices in communities across central Alabama. Children's of Alabama is the only medical center in Alabama dedicated solely to the care and treatment of children. It is a private, not-for-profit medical center, which serves as the primary site of the University of Alabama at Birmingham pediatric medicine, surgery, research and residency programs.
Positions offer competitive salaries along with a comprehensive benefits package. Rank and salary will be commensurate with the experience of the candidate and will consist of a guaranteed salary as well as a generous incentive plan linked to productivity.
