Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a School Partnerships & Outreach Facilitator in the Department of Center for READing that is responsible for fostering and enhancing partnerships, raising program awareness, and coordinating events to advance literacy initiatives within the catchment area. The role focuses on building relationships with public school administrators and their faculty, and community stakeholders to increase the Center's influence and promote its mission.

Duties and Responsibilities

Outreach and Partnership Development - 40%
  • Build partnerships with districts and schools within the catchment area.
  • Seek out and engage constituents to bring human resources and knowledge together.
  • Develop relationships with constituents to strengthen the Center's influence and partnerships.
  • Organize visits to the Center from state literacy leaders, government officials, etc.
  • Assist the Center in collaborating with other Centers of Excellence in Literacy across the state.

Program Awareness and Support - 30%
  • Provide general awareness of services through the Center for area school districts and communities.
  • Increase the Center's brand as a leader in literacy coaching and in-service teacher development.
  • Provide awareness and promote training available through Structured Literacy, reading difficulties, dyslexia, parent resources, and MTSS for families and community members.
  • Provide support for reading difficulties and dyslexia awareness across the catchment area, state and national level.
  • Maintain a repository of information concerning agencies and organizations that can assist professionals and families with additional resources.

Event Coordination and Communication - 20%
  • Assist in organizing and planning catchment area conferences, workshops, and open houses.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the Center's information tools (e.g., website, blogs, social media accounts, newsletters, email listservs, etc.).
  • Assist school districts in conducting needs assessments and facilitates data collection.
  • Along with Center staff and school officials, help to develop applicable needs assessments for catchment area school districts.

Other Duties - 10%
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and initiatives of the Research + Economic Development (RED) division.


Education and Experience

Required Education and Experience - Time of Hire
  • Master's degree in Education
  • 5 years' experience in an elementary classroom

Preferred Education and Experience
  • 5 years' experience in a classroom within the region
  • 3 years' experience in building level administration

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 annually

Job Type: Unclassified

Appointment Duration: 12 months

Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
