Title: School Psychologist
Reports To: Supervisor of Special Education
Takes Direction From: Supervisor of Special Education
Schedule/Calendar: 7.5 hours/day 37.5 hours/year 191 days/year

Summary: The School Psychologist is responsible for completing multidisciplinary evaluations of students and consulting with the Child Study Teams/Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) team to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. The psychologist's services supplement the contributions of the teacher, counselor, and other school personnel in facilitating the intellectual, social, and emotional development of students.

Essential Functions:
  • Conducts extensive psychoeducational evaluations of referred students and prepares written reports in accordance with departmental standards and in compliance with Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) statutes, federal and local regulations, and timelines.
  • Interprets the results of evaluations and educational data to the appropriate school, other concerned professionals, parents, and studentsParticipates as a member of the multidisciplinary team and data teams to assist in defining student difficulties, developing interventions, and monitoring responses to interventions.
  • Assists Individual Education Plan (IEP) teams in developing meaningful, objective, and measurable IEP goals for newly identified students with special needs and supports instructional staff in the progress monitoring of these goals.
  • Maintains accurate and updated records on all referred students and regarding services provided to students while maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • Makes appropriate referrals for further diagnostic evaluation services when necessary
  • Provides staff development for school staff on various topics pertinent to meeting the instructional needs of all students, including, but not limited to, academic assessment and intervention, progress monitoring, behavioral assessment, classroom management, positive behavioral support, data collection, graphing, and data analysis.
  • Performs other duties as required by the supervisor

Education and/or Certification Required:
  • Master's Degree
  • PA Certification as a School Psychologist

Experience Needed:
  • School Psychology experience preferred

Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of legal, ethical, and professional issues related to the practice of School Psychology
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development
  • Knowledge and understanding of psychometric properties, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and Response to Intervention (RTI)
  • Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and web-based technologies and platforms

  • Effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders, orally and in writing
