POSITION GOAL:
Evaluate pupils referred as potential candidates for special education programs and present a report on each student to the local education agency.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct extensive psychological evaluations of referred students (initial evaluation, re-evaluation, gifted evaluation, EI evaluation, early admission). Participate in case conferences when referred students are involved (Instructional Support Team, Pre re-evaluation review, Response to Instruction, Child Study Team, and Early Intervention Transition). Serve as a resource person for school personnel and parents concerning learning or behavioral concerns. Interpret test data and student diagnoses for school personnel, parents and students. Make recommendations on ways to assist students with learning or behavior concerns. Serve as chairperson for IEP and Child Study Team meetings. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and the community. Facilitate all paperwork related to initial evaluations, diagnostic evaluations, re-evaluations and related services. Create comprehensive evaluation reports. Provide psychological counseling services as required in student IEPs. Provide staff or parent in-service presentations as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.Master's Degree in School Psychology. Pennsylvania School Psychologist certification. Ability to read, interpret periodicals and professional journals. Ability to write clear and concise reports and correspondence. Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with administrators, teachers, parents, students, governing board members, support staff, colleagues, and outside professional contacts. Ability to demonstrate professional knowledge and competency in implementing federal and state special education rules and regulations and due process procedures. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications. Submission of PA School Personnel Health form. Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances. * This position description does not express or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the incumbent in this position. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 months; 40 hours per week Starting at $80,600, based on experience.Salary and benefits according to the agreement between the Board of School Directors and the Management Team Compensation and Evaluation Plan, Policies #327 and #333-339. According to the School District Policy Manual (available online at www.ojrsd.com).
