- Provide professional services to regular and special education students, parents, school and District personnel and community agencies; perform professional evaluations of psychological, social and educational needs of students.
- Consult with special education teachers periodically to assess student progress; discuss and modify as needed the goals, methods, procedures and educational materials for each student.
- Attend and participate in a variety of professional meetings and conferences related to educational psychology and assigned duties; attend staff and administrative meetings as directed.
- Remain current by reviewing current literature related to practices of special education and current State and federal laws related to special education programs.
- Make home visits as needed to obtain signature and speak with parents and students.
- Provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnel; participate as a member on an interview panel as requested.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Utilize a variety of psychodiagnostic techniques and procedures to evaluate students; design and formulate appropriate treatment plan and solution strategies; recommend student eligibility for special education, school/class placement.
- Develop, write and implement comprehensive IEPs for special education students; prepare and conduct re-evaluations according to established time lines and as required by law.
- Select, administer, score and evaluate a variety of educational diagnostic tests; interpret test results to parents and professionals and make recommendations; compile testing scores for State reports and District information; prepare testing records.
- Prepare, develop and maintain confidential records and files on referred students in accordance with legal and professional requirements.
- Consult with administrators, faculty, specialists and other District personnel as requested; participate in planning educational programs and curriculum, determining promotion, retention and suspension of students.
- Provide counseling to students and parents; utilize techniques and strategies as needed including changing the educational environment, changing the level of difficulty of school work assigned, or placement in special education programs.
- Provide in-service training to parents, teachers, administrators, other professionals and staff.
- Confer and communicate with physicians, other professionals, authorities and representatives of private and government agencies regarding the problems, progress and treatment plans for referred students.
QUALIFICATIONS:

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a Pupil Personnel Services School Psychology Credential
- Any combination equivalent to: advanced degree in educational or clinical psychology, including at least one year of internship under the supervision of a credentialed school psychologist.
- Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
- Insurability by the District's liability insurance carrier.
- Availability of private transportation.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher learning, preferably in Special Education or a related field.
- Experience working with children with emotional disturbance, with various ages, abilities, cultures and economic backgrounds.
- A strong work ethic and acceptance of personal responsibility.
