Chappaqua CSD is looking for a child-centered, thoughtful & knowledgeable educator to serve in the probationary position of School Psychologist assigned to the role of district-wide CSE/504 Chairperson beginning 2/24/25.

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Pupil Personnel Services, to partner with students, families and staff to oversee and facilitate the district-wide CSE/504 processes from secondary students through Age 21, and including out of district placements and parentally placed students.

Essential Performance Responsibilities
  • Conducts psychological assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students for the purpose of recommending courses of action or corrective procedures to maximize learning and overcoming psychological issues.
  • Assists with the identification and placement of all types of exceptional students.
  • Current knowledge of best practices in educating students with disabilities in inclusive school environments.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate group decision making processes.
  • Thorough knowledge of current federal and state regulations governing CSE and Section 504.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with parents, teachers, students and other district leaders.
  • Coordinates with administrators and other teaching staff members to ascertain individual student's abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with psychological services.
  • Serves as a resource and consultant on mental health and child psychology, conducts in-service programs as requested.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.

Certification & Education
  • NYS School Psychologist Certification required.
  • Previous experience as a School Psychologist and/or CSE Chairperson required
  • Ph.D. in Psychology preferred.
