Alphanumeric is seeking a Scientific Director (SD) to join our energetic and growing medical communications team. This is a fully remote opportunity supporting cutting-edge therapies and working alongside exceptional clients in the life sciences industry. You'll play a central role in both scientific content delivery and strategic account leadership.
As a Scientific Director, you will drive the development of high-quality, scientifically accurate, and engaging content for internal and external medical affairs initiatives-ranging from presentations and infographics to advisory board materials and messaging platforms. You'll lead a team of 1-3 medical writers across 1-3 accounts and serve as a strategic partner to clients while mentoring your team.
This role combines deep therapeutic expertise with creativity and leadership. We're looking for a scientist with a storyteller's mindset-someone who can translate complex science into compelling narratives. Candidates should hold a PhD, MD, PharmD, or related scientific degree and bring 5+ years of experience in medical communications, ideally within agency settings and focused in immunology, infectious diseases, or oncology.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the scientific lead on assigned accounts, ensuring accuracy, quality, and strategy alignment across deliverables.
- Oversee and mentor a team of medical writers, providing training and supporting their professional development.
- Partner with client leads to deliver high-impact content and maintain strong client relationships.
- Participate in strategic planning, client health checks, and account growth initiatives.
- Lead or contribute to business development efforts including RFP responses, proposals, and pitch presentations.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and medical standards, client style guides, and internal quality assurance processes.
- Actively contribute to internal process improvements and knowledge sharing across teams.

- 5+ years of medical communications experience, preferably in a full-service agency environment.
- Expertise in immunology, infectious diseases, or oncology strongly preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, and referencing software.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks, regulatory standards, and medical affairs content types.
- Knowledge of launch planning and experience supporting cross-functional life sciences teams.
- Collaborate with global life sciences leaders on high-impact initiatives.
