POSITION SUMMARY:

The candidate will join the Oncology team, focusing on innovative cell biology techniques to support early drug discovery. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, clear communication abilities, and a desire to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of Oncology and targeted protein degradation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform the full spectrum of laboratory activities and develop, troubleshoot, and optimize cell-based and biochemical assays in support of target validation, drug discovery & development efforts.
  • Independently develop proposals and implement assays for assessment of potency, target engagement, and mechanism of action of novel compounds using multiple techniques (measuring cell growth, density, viability; measuring protein levels; and preparing samples for downstream analysis, e.g., proteomics).
  • Maintain laboratory records and notebook, analyze and interpret experimental data, summarize results, and propose follow-up experiments to test biological hypotheses.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in other functional areas to design experiments for target validation, selectivity assessments, mechanism of action studies, and biomarker discovery.
  • Engage in scientific discussions and share ideas with an internal team of cross-functional biologists and proteomic scientists.
  • Handle laboratory workflows and participate in project/timeline management.
  • Mentor and assist junior team members.
  • Increase BPGbio's visibility within the scientific community through publications and conference presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires a Ph.D. degree in cancer biology, cell biology, biochemistry or related discipline with 0-5 years of relevant post PhD experience.
  • Experience with method development applying to targeted protein degradation, ubiquitin-proteasome system biology, functional proteomics technologies, and oncology research.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with molecular and cellular biology.
  • Proficient in molecular and immunological assays (ELISA, WB, FACS, etc.).
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and work in a fast-paced dynamic team environment.
  • Solid scientific training/productivity as identified through high-impact publications demonstrating creative thinking as well as innovative technical approaches.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a proven ability to prepare manuscripts for presentation and publication is required.
  • Excellent data organization and strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving aptitudes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment as a team player with a strong work ethic, excellent communication, and time management skills.
