Company: Relay Therapeutics

Location: Cambridge, MA 02139

Description:

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an innovative, collaborative, and motivated cell/molecular biologist to join our growing team. At Relay Therapeutics, we apply cutting edge technology towards the discovery, characterization, and optimization of small molecule therapeutics towards targets representing high, unmet medical needs. The successful candidate will work to design, implement, and drive a cutting edge innovative gene editing platform while interfacing with drug discovery biologists to tackle the hardest mechanistic problems in small molecule drug discovery. A creative, dynamic thinker will be required to apply the appropriate editing method(s) to rapidly create cell line models tuned to the scientific question at hand.

Your Role:
  • Leverage a diverse genome editing toolkit for knockout, precise single nucleotide modifications, and large insertion/deletion editing events to generate cell models including organoids and primary patient derived tissues.
  • Drive complete model development from construct design through validation of desired editing event including PCR and NGS methods for on- and off-target gene editing, and single cell sorting as appropriate
  • With an urgent mindset, work collaboratively with disease area experts to deliver biological relevant models across the pipeline
  • Potential for expanded role leading early target validation efforts for oncology and rare disease targets
  • Interpret, summarize, and present research findings at internal and external scientific meetings/conferences. Clear communication of your results to biologists and multidisciplinary colleagues is a must
  • Proactively review literature to apply the newest scientific findings, methods, and technologies to our programs

Your Background:
  • Ph.D with at least 2 years or MS with at least 6 years of drug discovery experience
  • Proven track record of experience with multiple genome editing strategies across different cell line models is required
  • Deep expertise in scientific principles and concepts of cellular and molecular biology
  • Can thrive in a dynamic environment, are detail oriented, and are a problem-solver; a strong work ethic and high-level motivation are required
  • You can work collaboratively within an energetic, matrixed research organization
  • You have excellent communication, presentation, and inter-personal skills
  • You are eager to deepen the understanding of the small molecule drug discovery process

About Relay Therapeutics

Relay Therapeutics is a clinical-stage precision medicines company transforming the drug discovery process with the goal of bringing life-changing therapies to patients. Built on unparalleled insights into protein motion and how this dynamic behavior relates to protein function, we aim to effectively drug protein targets that have previously been intractable, with an initial focus on enhancing small molecule therapeutic discovery in targeted oncology. Our Dynamo platform integrates an array of leading-edge experimental and computational approaches to provide a differentiated understanding of protein structure and motion to drug these targets. We have built a world-class team of leading experts from each of these disciplines, and they are driven by a deep collaboration at every step of our drug discovery process.

Our team is equal parts fearless and relentless, with a shared passion for working collaboratively in intellectually stimulating environments. If you're excited by the challenge of putting protein motion at the heart of drug discovery and passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients, join us!
