What you can expect working with us:
We have an immediate opening for a Scientist, mRNA. This position is available in Calgary, AB.
How we plan on keeping you busy:
- Produce technical reports, presentations, and other documents related to process development, experimentation, qualification, and validation
- Contribute to the design and execution of process optimization and development studies
- Assess the robustness of the mRNA production process with small-scale studies
- Assess small-scale models for process representativeness
- Develop small-scale production processes designed to meet standardized quality and performance indicators for new mRNA constructs
- Support technology transfer efforts by providing technical insights and responding to partner requests regarding the mRNA production process
- Mentor junior team members, providing technical guidance and supporting their development in mRNA research
- Other duties as assigned.
What will help you get here:
- PhD in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology/Chemical Engineering/Biophysics or closely related field
- Experience in design, QC, and testing of mRNA-based therapeutics with thorough knowledge of mRNA structure and function
- Experience, with hands-on expertise in in vitro transcription, purification, and nucleic acid assay development (e.g., RT-qPCR, CGE)
- Knowledge of preparative chromatographic purification, including mRNA purification and UFDF
- Demonstrated experience in the process development of biological pharmaceutical products
- Knowledge of GMP regulations and guidance for process development, qualification, and validation would be an asset
- Familiarity with CMC regulatory documents; past contributions to CMC sections of regulatory submissions (IMPD, IND, BLA)
- Knowledge of generating libraries for RNA sequencing (such as mRNA-seq, CLIP-seq, etc.) and next-generation sequencing is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective interpersonal skills
Working Conditions
- Must adhere to proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) use when working in the lab
- 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Works in an office-based environment using technology for extended periods
