PRIMARY FUNCTION:

State the primary function or overall purpose of your position.

Facilitate scrum to the larger team by ensuring the scrum framework is followed & committed to the scrum methodology, agile principles, and best practices. Collaborate and support Software & Controls team members, System Engineers, V&V Engineers, Chief Engineers, platform team engineers and other stakeholders across the Eaton Enterprise.

  • Guides and coaches the Scrum Team on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.
  • Gets team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.
  • Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
  • Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team.
  • Works with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams.
  • Resolves team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
  • Works with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters to grow within the role.
  • Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.
  • Facilitates and supports all scrum ceremonies: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Acts as a leader who coaches and supports Agile teams assigned to mainly Business as Usual (BAU) work and to a lesser degree, important department initiatives and applicable portions of corporate projects and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with the controls engineering organization, other functional groups and customers.
  • Manages the project configuration of tools for workflows, schemas and attributes as needed by the project.

Education and Skills required to meet position qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Software, Computer or Electrical Engineering discipline from a nationally accredited university.
  • Minimum 3 year of experience of leading Engineering Teams
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Software Development
  • Minimum 4 year of experience on an Agile Team as a scrum master, product owner, team lead
  • Minimum 3 year of experience working with Atlassian tools
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Scaled Agile Methodologies (SAFE, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English with ability to clearly convey project status and timelines to senior leadership
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to make presentations and work in group settings.

Preferred/Additional Specialized Knowledge (not required to be qualified for position):
  • Masters in Engineering
  • Background in powertrain, electro-hydraulics or industrial automation.
  • Experience developing software architecture in terms of components and interfaces with particular emphasis on code re-usability and maintainability.
  • Experience with various software development methodologies and tools (agile, iterative, waterfall, etc.).
  • Experience with processes and tools for requirements management, change and configuration management.
  • Experience with software test methodologies and tools and development of test plans for embedded systems.
  • Experience integrating and validating performance of electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience with auto-coding methodologies and technologies.
  • Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
  • Working knowledge of AUTOSAR framework and experience developing in the AUTOSAR environment


  • Knowledge of functional safety and development processes compliant to safety standards (ex. ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and development process compliant to cybersecurity standards (ex: ISO21434)
  • Knowledge of software quality processes and compliance auditing to ASPICE, CMMI, etc.

This role will require the candidate to be a servant leader that will coach technical leads throughout the project development. The candidate must be able to work globally and clearly communicate project objectives as well as motivate the team members to achieve on-time delivery. To enable this on-time delivery, the candidate will be responsible for removing barriers from work. Therefore, this candidate will also be responsible for learning the processes utilized by the team and the tool environment to best configure those tools to increase efficiency.

This role will work with a global network of scrum masters and agile coaches to drive a culture change to Eaton Enterprise by sharing best practices, providing input to template improvements, and becoming a champion for tools by providing training and coaching as requested from product teams.
