  • Lead district-wide initiatives to develop a TEKS based curriculum, implement the highest leverage instructional practices, and use evaluation processes to determine effectiveness of curriculum and instruction
  • Evaluate and recommend instructional resources that align with the district's educational and operational goals
  • Ability to implement continuous improvement processes that analyze data and make high impact changes that ensure students make academic progress
  • Lead technology and curriculum teams to ensure the seamless integration of innovative tools into existing systems
  • Ability to identify trends across the district or a campus requiring high leverage professional development, develop engaging, impactful, and job embedded professional development, and deliver professional development that includes concrete actions for improving student outcomes
  • Support the work and meet the goals of the Teaching and Learning department with particular emphasis on meeting the instructional needs of at-risk students

FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Director for Blended Learning and Support and the Coordinator of Curriculum Development and Instructional Support, the Secondary Reading and Language Arts Specialist will lead the District's efforts in designing, implementing, and evaluating the instructional programs within CCISD. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality education for all students by overseeing the Reading and Language Arts curriculum development, teacher training, and assessment practices. This individual will work closely with educators and campus and District administrators to align TEKS based curriculum and effective instructional practices to meet District goals.

Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Implementation
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the District curriculum that is aligned to State standards and proven best practices
Instructional Leadership
  • Provides guidance and support to campus leadership teams on effective instructional strategies, best practices, and the use of technology in the classroom fostering a culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning
Professional Development
  • Identify continuous improvement trends, develop engaging job embedded professional development training, and incorporate a feedback loop to assist campus leadership teams in providing implementation support
  • Stay informed on 6th grade -12th grade English Language Arts and Reading pedagogy, curriculum standards, and assessment practices to tailor professional development designed to improve student outcomes
Assessment and Evaluation
  • Collaborate with other District departments to develop and implement assessment systems that monitor student progress, evaluate the effectiveness of curriculum and instruction, and include student, teacher, and campus feedback
  • Analyze data to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement
  • Collaborate and Communication
  • Frequent collaboration and communication with teachers, administrators, and District stakeholders to ensure the Teaching and Learning department is communicating information
  • effectively, addressing questions and concerns, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement

  • Takes on other tasks and projects as required
  • Assumes additional responsibilities based on organizational needs
  • Utilizes time effectively and maintains a professional and positive image for the District

Salary: ADMN/204: Salary range is $284.34 to $413.42 daily (individual salary calculation is based on applicable experience)
