The Section Manager, Communications is responsible for developing integrated communications strategy, supervising andcreating written content for an extensive range of external and internal projects, including, but not limited to: plans, talkingpoints, executive presentations, internal and customer emails, website copy, intranet copy, digital screens, video scripts,executive presentations.Topics may include, but are not limited to: safety, clean energy, sustainability, customer and employee issues. Through written and multimedia communication, the Section Manager, Communications will work across the organization to developcommunications strategies that drive business results and elevate and protect the O&R brand. This includes overseeing a teamof six direct reports and collaborating more broadly across corporate affairsThe Section Manager, Communications will work in lockstep with Con Edison Corporate Affairs team to ensure coordinationand consistency of all communications initiatives, messaging and branding to heighten awareness of business initiatives acrossinternal and external audiences, drive awareness of clean energy commitment; and integrate corporate communicationschannels across Corporate Affairs groups to ensure a unified communications function to align and elevate messaging aroundcorporate priorities and increase cross collaboration.This is a hybrid position, a minimum of three days in the office and will be expected to represent O&R communications at keyCorporate Affairs and Communications meetings at 4 Irving Plaza when appropriate.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Develop integrated communications strategy for internal and external communications campaigns in support of business objectives.
- Develop executive communications to support O&R President, to include written communication, presentations and talking points. Proactively seek opportunities for the President to advance the companys key pillars with media and industry events in coordination with the VP of Communications.
- Develop and supervise the team to create clear and impactful written content for customers, employees and community members and manage an extensive range of projects, including, but not limited to: emails, website copy, intranet copy, digital screens, video scripts, executive presentations and speaking pointsetc.
- Work collaboratively with video, photography, and graphics to assure content is visually appealing, as well as, with various subject matter experts and other departments.
- Work across various departments to boil complex ideas down into usable language for targeted audiences.
- Use metrics, where possible, to develop, support and improve communications.
- Work with Con Edison Corporate Affairs team to ensure coordination and consistency of all communications initiatives, messaging and branding.
- Ensure external awareness of the companys clean energy commitment to advance the company strategy.
- Integrate corporate communications channels across Corporate Affairs groups to ensure a unified communications function to align and elevate messaging around corporate priorities and increase cross collaboration.
- Translate corporate initiatives into meaningful communications that create results.
- Staff Media Relations phone line after hours one week each month.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required, including overseeing rapid and emergency response communications during events.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Relations or Public Relations and at least 15 years experience in these fields (Communications, Journalism, Media Relations or Public Relations). or
- Master's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Media Relations or Public Relations and at least 10 years experience in these fields (Communications, Journalism, Media Relations or Public Relations).
- More than 10 years Demonstrated experience developing integrated communication strategy and writing content for an extensive range of communications targeting customers, employees or the general public, including but not limited to emails, bill inserts, press releases, website copy, video scripts and presentations, preferred.
- More than 10 years Demonstrated experience creating communications campaigns, required.
- More than 10 years Superior oral and written communications skills, and demonstrated ability to edit, fact-check and proofread own materials, required.
- More than 10 years Experience interacting professionally at all levels of the company, from field employees to executives - articulate and responsive to colleagues, required.
- More than 10 years Possess a sharp eye for details, the ability to juggle multiple projects, plan and manage deadline and work both independently and with teams, required.
- More than 10 years Must be able to respond to company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment as Information Officer to restore service to our customers, required.
- A broad understanding and interest in safety, energy industry, and environmental issues, a plus, preferred.
- Experience with still/video photography and/or graphics, a plus, preferred.
- Experience in media relations, social media and/or marketing a plus, preferred.

- Must be able and willing to travel within the company's service territory as needed, and work at the O&R Spring Valley location, with occasional assignments in Manhattan.
