After a 108 year association with the University of Northern Colorado, University Schools opened as a public charter school, at its current location, in the fall of 2002. In the fall of 2013, a new middle school building was added. University Schools is K-12 and enrolls nearly 1,800 students. University Schools continues to be an integral component of UNC's teacher education mission. University Schools' faculty and staff innovate and model effective student-centered teaching and learning.

University Schools has two buildings on one campus: an Elementary/High School located at 6525 W. 18th Street and a Middle School located at 1717 65th Avenue, Greeley, Colorado. Greeley is fifty miles east of the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Greeley is an agricultural community with light industry and a major Colorado university. The city has a population of 103,900 while Weld County has a population of 269,785.

Summary/Objective
Responsible for the safety and security of all students, staff, visitors and property of University Schools
under the supervision of the Director of Operations to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties - Completes objectives under the supervision of the Director Operation in executing the following:

Education and Related Work Experience
Education:High School Diploma or equivalent Bachelor's degree in related field preferred Experience: Five years of related work experience in law enforcement, school security or private security. Three years of supervisory of investigative work preferred.
Licenses, Registrations or CertificationsMust hold or be eligible to hold Colorado Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) certification or must have successfully completed a state certified, federal or military police academy. Must hold or be eligible to hold a County Sheriff's Office Concealed Handgun Permit. Additional specialized training preferred in one or more of the following: criminal investigations, fraud or financial investigation techniques, interview techniques, policy supervision and/or training in crime prevention methods and practices. Annually complete/pass a firearms training course and any other tactical training as required by School insurance. Background check required for hire.

under the supervision of the Director of Operations to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties - Completes objectives under the supervision of the Director Operation in executing the following:
Responsibilities
- Supervise all security personnel to include part time traffic/crowd control employees as assigned.
- Supervise and conduct patrols of University Schools property to ensure the safety and security of students, staff and visitors.
- Develop and implement traffic flow plans before, during and after school.
- Monitor security systems on campus.
- Plan and coordinate critical incident response and crisis management, provide critical incident preparedness training.
- Prepare emergency policies and procedures adhering to all CDE, State and Local Laws pertaining to schools for natural and well as man-made critical incidents.
- Works cooperatively with the Armed Security Officer and executes supervisory directives as assigned by the Director of Operations.
- Provide armed physical security to students, staff and parents at University Schools, and its facilities.
- Maintain order, assist visitors and monitor premises for disruptions and disturbances.
- Patrol the grounds regularly to detect and/or interdict vandalism, theft, burglary and other criminal activity.
- Assist in the coordination of actions to be taken concerning threats of violence on the students or University Schools personnel.
- Assist in implementation of the safety plan (Emergency Response Plan).
- Confer with and assist University Schools' administration and police on investigation of criminal incidents.
- Assist responding police officers in the conduct of their investigations by contacting school administration, opening doors, turning off/on alarm systems etc.
- Make appropriate notifications via telephone, radio or written report of incidents requiring documentation.
- Familiar with and enforce the Student Conduct and Discipline handbook and other school rules and regulation.
- Complete necessary reports to document criminal events or discipline code violations.
- Ensure student, staff and visitors adhere to University Schools, Board of Governors policies and regulations while on campus or at school sponsored events.
- Issue verbal warning, report misconduct and request assistance from appropriate personnel as required.
- Respond to burglar, fire or panic alarm activations to check the security of the premises and provide assistance to responding police officers and/or University Schools' personnel.
- Investigate and document criminal events on the property of University Schools.
- Work with University Schools' administration to design, implement and review crisis plans.
- Regularly conduct security assessments throughout the campus utilizing Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) concept and training.
- Facilitate the flow of traffic at University Schools before, during and after school.
- Provide security and assistance for extra-curricular activities and other events taking place on campus of University Schools.
- Possess knowledge of firearms, computers, video surveillance and alarm monitoring equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Attend Firearm training as required by School insurance.
- May require night, weekend and call-out hours.

- The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
