Job Summary
The Senior Accountant (Fleet Accounting) will be responsible for managing financial processes related to fleet accounting, ensuring accurate reporting, reconciling accounts, and supporting budgeting and forecasting. The role involves collaboration with operations and finance teams to maintain compliance with accounting standards and optimize financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) invoices and prepare month-end revenue/expense accruals by vessel.
- Manage month-end financial close processes, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliations.
- Analyze financial results at the vessel and voyage levels to ensure accuracy and completeness, investigating fluctuations compared to prior periods and budget/forecast.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages.
- Monitor bank accounts and project weekly cash flows.
- Participate in the budgeting and reforecasting processes.
- Support internal and external audits, including financial, operational, and internal control audits.
- Complete special projects and ad hoc reports as assigned.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of private or 3 years of public accounting experience.
- Prior voyage accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of GAAP principles.
- Workday experience.
- Workday or Adaptive Planning experience.
- Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance and/or CPA license.
