The Sr Accountant will be a critical contributor to the financial close process and reporting for The Cooper Companies by participating in general accounting activities and daily operations of the Consolidations and Intercompany Accounting team in Victor, NY, primarily concentrating on the intercompany activities of Cooper Vision. The individual will be responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting of both CooperVision.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibilities of this position will largely be comprised of the accurate and timely reporting of CooperVision financials and related processes and deliverables. The position will be responsible for assisting with the production of accurate and timely reporting of monthly / quarterly / annual results at the group level and will be responsible for certain aspects of the financial accounting results through reconciliation and analysis. The position will also interface with Treasury, Tax, corporate, and regional Finance teams to facilitate various reporting and project requirements. The position is a key point of contact for local and regional finance teams, providing the guidance, support, and direction to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures and US GAAP reporting requirements. This role involves internal interaction and collaboration with all CSI domestic and international locations, as well as cross-functional groups including FP&A, tax, legal, HR and Treasury.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
  • Prepares monthly financial close requirements for Consolidations team, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and the recording of intercompany transactions between the holding companies and other CooperVision locations.
  • Support the reconciliation of intercompany accounting transactions between subsidiaries, verifying and finalizing all intercompany balance sheet accounts and ensuring all eliminations are followed through timely and appropriately.
  • Assists with monthly and quarterly analytics of the balance sheet and income statement.
  • Works to ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal policies and procedures. Assist in preparation of deliverables for both internal SOX compliance audits and external financial statement audits and reviews.
  • Drives timely and accurate financial reporting throughout the organization.
  • Assists in continued process improvement initiatives to assist and improve current procedures.
  • Work to ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal policies and procedures in all areas
  • Support the Consolidation team effort in the budget and forecast processes.
  • Support and collaborate with management on various projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to disaggregate, analyze and reconcile consolidated financial data in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ability to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels of the organization
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail
  • Flexibility to handle conflicting priorities and work under strict deadlines
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Windows applications is required
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion Financial Systems, and COGNOS is beneficial
  • Ability to communicate and work with all levels within the organization including senior management
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Consolidations and global reporting experience preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Windows applications is required.
  • Direct experience with Oracle EPM (HFM, Planning, and/or Essbase) a preferred

Experience:
  • 3-5 years of experience across several functions within Accounting/Finance (Budgeting, Consolidation, and Financial Analysis)


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or a related field is required, master's degree a plus.
  • CPA or equivalent a plus; MBA a plus

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting base pay for this role is between $72,442.00 and $96,589.00 per year and may include cost of living adjustments. The actual base pay includes many factors and is subject to change and modification in the future. This position may also be eligible for other types of compensation and benefits.
