POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the CFO, the Senior Accountant is crucial in advancing I-House's mission by supporting the employee journey. We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to perform various accounting routines including billings, receivables, collections, accounts payable, reconciliations, monthly closing, and reporting.
The scope of the job responsibilities include interacting with other I-House departments. The Senior Accountant's goal is to help management develop, record and maintain the accounting system in an accurate and timely fashion using excellent accounting routines, methods, and techniques.
The ideal candidate will have a background in nonprofit finance and accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to supporting the mission of International House.

The ideal candidate will have a background in nonprofit finance and accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to supporting the mission of International House.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the Accounting Manager on the organization's daily financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. Help oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Conduct monthly reconciliation of credit card transactions and related accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Utilize budgets and other tools to analyze variances with property manager and reconcile payments applied against major contract values.
- Monitor and review monthly receivables for accuracy, adjustments, and/or corrections.
- Provide Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) support, ensuring efficient processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and company guidelines.
- Interface with external financial service providers.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Excellent Interpersonal skills, multicultural competencies, and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IRS regulations for 501(c)(3) organizations, and financial management best practices.
- Proven experience with financial software and tools, such as Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT, or similar systems.
- Proven experience managing interfaces with POS and banking systems for accounts receivable.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task, highly developed organizational skills, excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
- Experience working with Agile methodology.
- Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem-solving, identifying key performance indicators for business and personnel systems, and the actions to improve performance.
- Ability in problem identification and reasoning.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit finance and accounting.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Compensation: $80,000 - $110,000/year.
