Senior Accountant

For over seven decades investor-owned utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, and others have entrusted their electrical construction and maintenance needs to Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. (Elliot).

Elliot is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground distribution, transmission, substations, lighting, traffic signaling, utility locating and industrial/commercial services.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, compliance with GAAP, and support of the company's overall financial reporting objectives. The ideal candidate will be committed to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and financial stewardship and strive to be a collaborative and valued business partner built on trust, expertise, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Key role in leading the monthly financial close.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting to Executive Management.
• Perform account reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, and flux analysis.
• Collaborate and serve as a trusted cross-departmental business partner.
• Assist with the external audit process, providing necessary documentation and support.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide support to other accounting functions as needed.
• Foster culture of development and growth of other individuals.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site full-time.

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA certification preferred.
• Experience in public accounting or with a large, publicly traded company.
• Experience with ERP systems and consolidated reporting software (e.g., Oracle, SAP, OneStream, Hyperion).
