This is a full-time position that provides professional and administrative support to the Accounting Department of Armada. The Senior Accountant ensures the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions. This person will directly report to the Controller of Accounting for supervision purposes.

In accordance with Maryland's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, we are committed to providing transparent wage information for all posted job opportunities. The wage range for this position is $90,000 - $95,000 per year. Compensation is determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Prepares and records asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
- Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintains general ledger by reconciling trial balance to supporting workpapers.
- Ensures timely and accurate payment of brokers. Reconciles broker activity to the general ledger.
- Summarizes financial status; prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other statements.
- Performs variance analysis on monthly, quarterly, and annual results. Helps explain variances to other members within the company.
- Handles ad hoc analysis and forecasting as needed.
- Helps ensure compliance with GAAP standards.
- Assists with completion of the annual external audit by analyzing general ledger accounts and providing support for audit requests.
- Coordinates with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of the annual audit.
- Assists with creation and implementation of internal controls including preventative, detective, and corrective controls.
- Evaluates operating procedures to ensure the most efficient and accurate methods are being used.
- Ensures compliance with all legal requirements.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Such other duties or tasks to assist the department and organization as the supervisor may deem necessary.
Skills/Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting
- CPA highly preferred
- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience required
- In-depth understanding of GAAP
- Experience with GL functions as well as month/quarter/year end close processes
- Experience with financial reporting software
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Must be proficient in MS Excel
- Highly detail-oriented and organized
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to research, analyze and report data
- Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines and handle multiple tasks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to maintain confidentially
- Must be accepting of guidance from others
- Able to work well in a team environment
