What You'll Be Doing:

The Senior Accountant - Reporting/Audit is responsible for overseeing and reviewing the work of Staff Accountants in monthly and quarterly tasks, including cash postings, journal entries, and monthly and quarterly workpapers. Additionally, this role performs general ledger analysis, supports in the annual budgeting process, ancillary accounting work, and assists with any necessary internal/external auditor requests.

Review work of Staff Accountants and complete critical Corporate Accounting tasks and specialized functions - 40%
  • Reviews and approves journal entries and monthly workpapers prepared by Staff Accountants.
  • Prepares operating statements for Corporate entities.
  • Primary subject matter expert for ancillary income accounting, including review of money received and preparing monthly amortization analysis.
  • Oversee work of Staff Accountants, and appropriately mentor and train.

Audit Liaison for Single Statement audit requests - 25%
  • Serves as the main point of contact for inquiries on any accounting subject matter from external auditors.
  • Prepares special audit workpapers, bank confirmations, etc., as well as gathers work papers and schedules annually.

Special Accounting projects and subject matter expertise - 35%
  • Works with Manager/Director on special financial analysis projects.
  • Prepares schedules for 10-K/10-Q footnote disclosure.
  • Participates in different aspects of the annual budgeting process.
  • Performs other accounting duties as necessary

What You'll Need to Thrive:
  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance and 2-5 years applicable accounting experience is required.
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent analytical and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong delegation skills and the capability to oversee the work of others and effectively motivate staff.
  • Must be able to organize, prioritize workload and work on numerous projects/tasks at one time, and be conscientious of deadlines.
  • Computer literacy required - Intermediate excel skills required, Google Apps familiarity, and previous experience working in accounting systems strongly preferred.

Requirements:
  • Licenses/Certifications:CPA status is preferred and encouraged, but not required.

    Machines, Tools and Equipment, Software:
  • Computer w/Internet and e-mail capabilities, telephone, facsimile, photocopier. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel preferred, along with experience with Google Apps for Business.

Salary: $71,543 - $98,372 / year; in addition to base salary, a discretionary annual bonus is provided.

The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, and qualifications.

  • Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse verbally over the phone and in-person (expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken or written word).
  • Ability to interpret, evaluate and communicate detailed written or verbal instructions to others accurately and easily.
  • Able to see well enough to use the computer effectively and read written communications.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry up to 15 pounds for the dissemination of documents, supplies, materials, etc. to various locations throughout the office/facility. May be required to climb stairs depending on the property structure.
