We are looking for a Senior Accountant working alongside our Calgary, AB team. This is an on-site position.

Summary

We are seeking a talented and self-motivated Senior Accountant to join our high-performing and collaborative team within a manufacturing company with branches across Canada and the U.S. The ideal candidate will effectively manage multiple priorities while ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. This position reports to the Controller.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support daily accounting and finance activities
  • Manage the month-end close process to ensure timely completion within 5 business days
  • Coordinate monthly GL account reconciliations assigned to Intermediate Accountants and perform reconciliation for complex GL accounts
  • Oversee intercompany accounts and assist in monthly consolidation
  • Complete bank reconciliation for Canadian and US bank accounts
  • Prepare and file sales and use tax returns for US branches
  • Assist in preparing schedules for US Tax Reporting
  • Contribute to the monthly reporting and analysis of financial results, including variance analysis
  • Initiate and implement process improvements, including ERP enhancement and systems integration
  • Support compliance with SOX reporting requirements
  • Assists with various accounting items and projects as needed
  • Participate in technical accounting research and development of new accounting policies and standards

Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA candidate actively pursuing certification
  • Experience with accounting in the U.S. is an asset
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong work ethic with a proven ability to collaborate with team members and work independently
  • Works well under pressure, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, fostering a positive team environment
