JOB SUMMARY
The Carlson Family Office is seeking a full-time Senior Accountant to support our complex, multi-entity organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas. Additionally, the candidate should be technologically savvy, eager to embrace new technology, and focused on automation and process improvement.
Responsibilities include completing month-end close processes, such as account reconciliation, general ledger journal entries, and financial statement preparation, all in a timely and efficient manner. The Senior Accountant will also serve as a key point of contact for research and resolution of inquiries. This role involves collaboration with internal departments to address complex accounting and technical issues, identifying best practices to meet company goals and client service expectations. Furthermore, the role supports the wealth planning and tax teams on various tasks and projects to streamline processes and support the overall department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review financial statements for individual entities, including account classification, journal entries, and reporting, with some entities involving principal and income accounting.
- Handle accounting and reporting for the Carlson Family Foundation, including general ledger journal entries, financial statement preparation, and liaising with external auditors.
- Manage accounting and reporting for individual family foundations, including general ledger journal entries and financial statement preparation.
- Ensure accurate general ledger coding for transactions related to accounts payable and cash transactions.
- Process and code individual credit card transactions to the general ledger, resolving any reconciling issues.
- Serve as a backup for the accounts payable and cash management desks as needed.
- Support internal and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform exception-based audits and report findings to ensure compliance with service level expectations.
- Create and maintain accounting procedures and quick reference guides to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
- Contribute ideas for process improvement based on identified themes and observations.
- Assist with system testing related to ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and security controls.
- Provide assistance to the broader Finance team with ad hoc tasks and projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-7 years of experience in accounting/finance using accounting principles.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Family office experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to receive work direction from multiple individuals and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong ability to manage tasks and priorities in a fast-paced and complex environment.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Proficiency in accounting software; Microsoft Business Central preferred.
