A well-established commercial real estate company is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee financial operations and manage construction-related accounting processes. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and analytical professional with strong communication skills and experience in construction accounting, draw processes, and project budgeting. Working collaboratively, the new team member will ensure financial accuracy by managing draw packages, preparing reconciliations, and analyzing budgets while supporting project managers, maintaining lender compliance, and contributing to strategic growth initiatives.

Type of Position: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee accounting functions for the construction development division of a retail-focused project team.
  • Manage and supervise the monthly financial reporting and funding draw process for the organization's real estate projects.
  • Complete monthly reconciliations of all bank accounts.
  • Prepare, organize, and assess monthly financial packages and draw requests submitted to financing partners.
  • Review and track cash flow projections to ensure the timely disbursement of funds in line with project requirements.
  • Coordinate weekly disbursements to ensure timely payments to vendors and contractors.
  • Assist with the development and alignment of accounting procedures in collaboration with the project development team.
  • Review project budgets and conduct monthly variance analysis comparing actual expenses to the budget.
  • Assess loan agreements and related financial requirements in partnership with the project development team.
  • Maintain regular communication with various stakeholders, including project managers, funding partners, contractors, and vendors, covering topics such as contracts, payments, receivables, and liabilities.
  • Contribute to the execution of long-term strategic initiatives aimed at company expansion.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance required
  • Proficient with Excel, and familiarity with other software programs
  • Minimum 4 to 5 years of progressive accounting experience with specific focus either in construction management, general contracting, or subcontractor industry experience
  • Understanding of the construction draw process is critical for this role
  • An organized initiative-taker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment that rewards ownership and excellence
  • Strong communication skills are preferred
