Our bank relies on our group to make better decisions, plan for the future, and effectively manage its balance sheet and business as a whole. The primary accountability is to ensure the integrity of accounting information specific to various CIBC accounting functions. The role applies professional knowledge to assist in communicating value added insights through reporting and presentations to senior executives, ensuring they thoroughly understand the results, issues and trends.

How you'll succeed
Legal Entity Accounting
Responsible for US GAAP accounting for:
- The complete life-cycle of share-based compensation (SBC) awards, related intercompany immunization agreement activities and deferred compensation arrangements.
- All incentive compensation arrangements
- Various compensation related payments and post-employment pay elements such as sign-on bonuses, retention pay arrangements, severance arrangements and 401k annual match true-up.
- Perform controls over above listed accounting elements which includes completion of monthly responsibility checklist, monthly reconciliations and roll-forward schedules of related balance sheet GL accounts, tie outs to sub-ledger system reports, trend analysis review of related P&L and provide commentary as needed.
Legal Entity Reporting
- Responsible for complete production of annual SBC footnote for audited financial statement disclosures (AFSD).
- Provide selected data elements for intercompany footnote, derivative footnote and other selected AFSD. Monthly produce various SBC reports for delivery to tax team and various Toronto teams for local ledger
Regulatory Reporting - (FFIEC 041 Call Report)
- Provide various schedules and data elements for regulatory reporting team related to SBC, Immunization activities (i.e., embedded and/or free-standing derivatives) and maturity of contractual obligations.
Ad Hoc Projects
- Monthly provide commentary to Toronto People Cost Accounting Team regarding Bank USA SBC activities and assist as needed to facilitate IFRS accounting adjustments
- Monthly provide selected SBC data for Market Risk Reporting analysis - Quarterly, provide forecast for above areas of oversight and annually, provide budget/plan for same.
- Quarterly, provide to Accounting Ops supporting calculations of compensation and incentives for use in intercompany allocations related to Reg W compliance.
- Responsible for GL mapping decisions for Workday integration of payroll elements.
- Serve as subject matter expert to CIBC Canadian counterparts, Specialized Compensation Delivery team, HR teams, management, and plan participants.
Who you are
- You have a college degree in Business/Accounting.
- You have 3+ years of accounting / regulatory reporting experience.
- You possess a good understanding of accounting transactions.
- You demonstrate general knowledge of GAAP principles as they relate to CIBC.
- You have working knowledge of PC applications (i.e., spreadsheets, word processing, etc.) and of regulatory reporting automated solutions.
- You are detail-oriented and analytical.
- You are a strong communicator with solid presentation skills.
