Senior Accounting Manager - Henderson, NC

Responsibilities

Develop, document and monitor internal controls, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting and cross-departmental transactions.

• Manage and supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including payables, receivables, and tax preparation.
• Design and implement training programs for the accounting team.
• Mentor and guide staff to improve accuracy and efficiency and effectiveness in all financial activities.
• Audit and improve productivity and effectiveness of current cross-team processes.
• Manage General Ledger, reconcile accounts, post journal entries.
• Strategize and implement efficient procedures to expedite month-end close process, including the timely reconciliation of accounts and preparation of necessary reports.
• Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in compliance with GAAP.
• Compile year-end financial information and data as required for CPAs or auditors.
• Gather and provide financial data as needed for analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
• Manage insurance coverage for the organization, including compliance.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws and applicable regulations.
• Work closely with VP of Finance to support accounting and finance decision-making and resolve any issues affecting financial reporting.
• Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties at any time.

Requirements

Education, Experience and Skills Required

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• CPA or CPA Candidate preferred.
• 5-7 years' experience in public accounting or current senior accounting manager.
• Strong leadership skills and supervisory experience of 3+ employees.
• Experience in financial data analysis and reporting for forecasting and budgeting.
• Ability to deliver quality work to tight deadlines, with strong organizational and priority setting skills.
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, data analysis.
• Experience in accounting software systems: Sage, Oracle NetSuite, Blackline or similar.
• Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language so individuals at all levels can understand.
• Knowledge of federal regulations on taxes and reporting.
• In-depth and broad-based understanding of accounting. Additional cost, forensic or management accounting experience beneficial.
• Wholesale or distribution business experience favorable.
