Description
The Senior Accounting Manager reports to the CFO and is responsible for supervising the operations of the accounting department and overseeing the recording and reporting of day-to-day transactions for accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financials. The Senior Accounting Manager will also be responsible for various projects which may include gathering data, creating reports and/or dashboards and analysis for executives, department leaders, and various internal and external stakeholders. This role requires an experienced accountant with strong financial analysis skills, great communication and management skills, attention to detail and experience in a manufacturing environment.

Description
The Senior Accounting Manager reports to the CFO and is responsible for supervising the operations of the accounting department and overseeing the recording and reporting of day-to-day transactions for accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financials. The Senior Accounting Manager will also be responsible for various projects which may include gathering data, creating reports and/or dashboards and analysis for executives, department leaders, and various internal and external stakeholders. This role requires an experienced accountant with strong financial analysis skills, great communication and management skills, attention to detail and experience in a manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the entire month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and completion by the 8th of each month. This includes overseeing all closing activities, such as creating and reviewing/approving journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation and analysis, in compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
- Manage the daily operations of the accounting department, overseeing key functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reconciliation, inventory accounting, fixed assets, revenue recognition, among others.
- Track and improve cashflow and working capital metrics through proper AP/AR management
- Review and approve weekly accounts payable check-runs and manage the company's daily cash balances to ensure accurate and timely disbursements.
- Lead and mentor accounting staff and maintain a good working environment.
- Coordinate and submit audit and tax requests with parent company and external firms as needed.
- Create and distribute financial reports and ad-hoc analyses, summarize key data and identify trends to support management's understanding of financial performance.
- Assist CFO with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes.
- Communicate with senior management and other stakeholders about financial matters.
- Backup for accounting team roles if needed.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with company projects and initiatives, such as software and systems implementation, and other departmental or company-wide improvements, as needed
- Partner with departments across the board to brainstorm on ways to be more efficient and cost effective.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise three staff members: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Staff Accountant
Requirements
EDUCATION | CERTIFICATIONS | LICENSES | TRAINING
- Bachelor's degree required, Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES
- Managerial experience leading a small team
- Thorough understanding of GAAP/IFRS and other relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with accounting in ERP systems .
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including depreciation, accruals, and fixed asset accounting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and delegate effectively to ensure timely completion of assignments, especially during critical periods like month-end close.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
COMPUTER SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Highly computer literate including intermediate to advanced level Excel skills.
- ERP implementation experience a plus.
- Knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems with the ability to navigate with ease.
