Role Summary:
Fore Bio is a next-generation precision oncology company focused on the development of plixorafenib, an investigational, novel, small-molecule, next-generation, orally available selective inhibitor of mutated BRAF. The Sr. Accounting Manager will be part of a small finance team supporting the company accounting functions, leading the monthly close process, ensuring compliance and providing financial reports to support strategic decision making. The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter, detail oriented, passionate about accounting operations, adept at analyzing transactions with high accuracy, have excellent communication skills, be capable of task switching at a high performance level and willing to take the initiative to drive process change and refinement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for timely monthly and quarterly close activities for general ledger accounts including preparation of journal entries, including accruals, as well as preparation and review of reconciliations, where appropriate.
- Work closely with other team members in finance and liaison to departments outside finance to ensure that purchase orders are maintained/updated to reflect recent change orders and relevant account
- Support all aspects of the company's financial operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and tax accounting as needed.
- Assist in developing strong internal control procedures, identifying opportunities to enhance process and controls across all business areas
- Assist in developing and maintaining a documented system of accounting policies and procedures;
- Responsible for review of CRO reports, preparation and booking of accrual reconciliation and journal entries, and preparation of spending reports
- Support the requirements of the annual audit and quarterly reviews through preparation of audit schedules and other support requested by the external auditors
- Support the requirements of management's testing of internal controls through gathering support requested by audit consultants and reviewing any relevant internal control narratives
- Review contractual terms to record liabilities when deliverables were met
- Utilizing knowledge and data, provide strategic input into recommendations for change and process improvement as well as continuously evolving and evaluating policies and procedures
- Participate (and lead as needed) in the development of new systems, processes and automation
- Assist with ad hoc projects, internal reports and other duties as needed
- Travel up to 5% time, based upon program needs
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- BA/BS Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field and 5-8 years of accounting experience.
- CPA is preferred
- Experience in life sciences industry required, with preference for late-stage clinical therapeutics
- Knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards
- In depth experience with ERPs, P2P and expense reporting systems
- SEC/publicly traded company experience preferred.
- Experience with budget development and management required.
- Demonstratable experience in supporting external audit requirements and relationships.
- Demonstratable success in building cross-functional relationships, providing business support and fostering collaboration across the accounting team, as well as with other corporate functions to ensure targeted business results.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Demonstratable ability to operate independently in an entrepreneurial environment
- Advanced Microsoft Office computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
