Job Description

Provide other insights regarding financial results. Provide support to other areas such as accounting, FP&A, and data management. Converse with and support model development team in coding actuarial solutions to regulation changes. Suggest appropriate and auditable controls, reconciliations and documentation are maintained with respect to valuation. Utilize technology to perform job functions more efficiently and to further automate the reserving processes. Share technology solutions with other associates. Complete special assignments and projects for the department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • Performing financial valuation, modeling, and cash flow analysis; assisting in maintaining actuarial modeling systems and suggesting changes to comply with new regulations; utilizing experience calculating US statutory reserves or Canadian GAAP reserves; preparing regulatory filings in accordance with published rules including NAIC Annual Statement and Actuarial Memorandum or Annual Actuarial Report and Minimum Continuing Capital and Surplus Requirements
  • Analyzing impact of assumption changes on relevant metrics including reserve adequacy, profitability metric (net income and return of equity), capital requirements, assumption sensitivity analysis, cash flow projection, and communicating results to stakeholders
  • Supporting internal and external audits reviewing actuarial assumptions on financial reporting and valuation processes.
  • Must be a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
  • Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site.
