Job Description

Manage interaction with federal legislative and regulatory bodies as well as national trade associations, including creating and strategizing policy proposals and written and spoken testimony.

You will be expected to maintain awareness of current events and topics at the federal level and maintain relations and liaise with relevant organizations/stakeholders. Relationships with regulatory agencies and congressional committee members and staff with jurisdiction over insurance industry issues will be critical to your success.

This position can be based in Jersey City, New Jersey or remote in the D.C. area.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior executives to define, implement, and communicate strategic direction and initiatives; streamlining processes to create efficiencies.
  • Communicate with management and executive level regarding federal legislative and regulatory environment and industry issues.
  • Develop deep knowledge of Verisk/ISO enterprise and products to ensure successful execution of job responsibilities.
  • Analyze proposed legislative and regulatory actions, determine potential impact on Verisk/ISO products, and develop appropriate responses.
  • Collaborate with Verisk/ISO staff and management to identify needs, initiate, develop, and execute strategic plans to achieve compliance with legislative and regulatory changes in support of corporate goals to maintain compliant products and services.
  • Build successful partnerships and implement initiatives that promote business/operational objectives with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engage with divisions to develop coordinated solutions to federal issues affecting Verisk/ISO products and services.
  • Manage preparation of internal material and resource documents to address technical issues relating to legislation and regulation.
  • Develop, maintain, and nurture relationships with federal regulatory agencies, congressional committee members and staff, trade associations and other industry interested parties.
  • Spearhead external engagement meetings with regulatory agencies, congressional committee members and staff as needed.
  • Represent Verisk/ISO at various industry and regulatory forums.
  • Provide technical support to national industry trade associations and other interested stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of ISO's positions on specific P&C insurance sector industry topics at the federal level.
  • Seek government contract opportunities and facilitate business unit involvement in RFP processes.
  • Keep apprised of EU initiatives on privacy and climate change and communicate updates internally.
  • Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required and candidates with advanced degrees preferred.
  • At least seven years experience in either P&C insurance (with technical insurance background) or Government Relations/Compliance work (with appropriate analytical skills).
  • Must have good understanding of the regulatory environment, legislative affairs and advocacy community.
  • Innovative problem solving and organizational acumen are a must.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Verisk/ISO operations is a plus.
  • Experience obtaining federal contracts a plus.
  • Completion of at least 5 Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) exams or similar professional credentials a plus.
