Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Senior Air Quality Permitting and Dispersion Modeling Specialist to join its collaborative team in any of our Langan locations. Our Air Quality and Air Dispersion Modeling specialist will lead and execute air quality projects for a wide range of clients throughout the US. Specific responsibilities will include preparation of emissions calculations, compliance reports, permit applications, and dispersion modeling using various programs (AERMOD, MOVES, etc.). Job Responsibilities
- Provide technical support on air quality permitting projects, with special emphasis on air quality dispersion modeling development, execution, and analysis;
- Have an understanding of and implement solutions to air quality impacts identified in air modeling analyses. This may include refining the model or working with clients to identify emission controls, operating modifications, or exhaust modifications;
- Perform air quality modeling analyses using common air quality models (e.g., AERMOD, MOVES, CALPUFF, etc.) to evaluate air quality impacts as required for Title V, PSD, New Source Review compliance, and Environmental Impact Statements, as well as to support growing environmental concerns from the public associated with development projects;
- Prepare and communicate technical work products clearly and effectively to clients and state and federal agencies at both a technical and business level;
- Perform and manage multiple tasks within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables;
- Act as a liaison between clients and regulators to facilitate project execution; and
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to support projects located throughout the US.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering, Atmospheric Sciences/Meteorology or closely related field;
- Minimum of 5 years of direct air quality permitting and modeling experience;
- Experience in performing air quality modeling using standard air quality models (e.g., AERMOD, CALPUFF, AERSCREEN, MOVES);
- Demonstrated experience preparing permit applications and detailed emissions calculations;
- Interfacing with regulators and the public, and attending/leading relevant stakeholder meetings;
- Understanding of common industrial activities and the relationships between air quality and other environmental media /regulations (e.g. wastewater, regulated waste, EPCRA, tanks);
- PE or on track to obtain (FE/EIT) or other professional certification a plus;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities;
- Demonstrated ability to work on a multidisciplinary team and succeed in a consulting environment;
- Ability to communicate technical information (written and verbal) to clients, colleagues, and regulators of varying backgrounds and experience;
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and other related software, as required by job responsibilities;
- Reliable transportation to access remote job sites and a valid driver's license in good standing; and
- Availability to work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
