The Role
  • Customer-Facing Qualification Engagements: Serve as a liaison between Divergent and relevant DoD qualification and airworthiness authorities, ensuring clear communication and alignment on meeting qualification standards for Divergent products
  • Qualification Strategy: Work across internal Divergent and external qualification experts to develop and implement a cohesive airworthiness & qualification strategy. Such strategy shall ensure Divergent produced structures across a variety of applications can repeatably meet key standards
  • Product Qualification Compliance Oversight: Across Divergent programs, provide qualification feedback to engineering and program teams on active programs
  • Documentation & Certification: Support the preparation and submission of certification documentation, including reports, analyses, and other required materials, for Divergent products.
  • Innovation Advocacy: Advocate for new and innovative approaches to airworthiness and certification that align with Divergent's mission and vision, working with regulatory bodies to explore and define new qualification frameworks and standards.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to airworthiness and certification and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the safe and compliant operation of aircraft vehicles.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, testing, and regulatory teams to ensure airworthiness objectives are integrated into the broader vehicle development process.
  • Test Expertise: Experience working across a breadth of aerospace and defense test and evaluation and the associated safety and qualification process.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in qualification or airworthiness, with a focus on working directly with qualification or airworthiness authorities
  • In-depth knowledge of airworthiness regulations, certification processes, and requirements for aerospace and defense products
  • Proven track record of successfully guiding complex aerospace projects through certification processes
  • Strong understanding of aircraft and launch vehicle systems, structures, and materials, with the ability to assess their airworthiness
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with regulatory bodies and internal teams
  • A forward-thinking mindset with a passion for innovation in the aerospace industry
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • In depth knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing, preferably laser powder bed fusion
  • Experience as a Designated Engineer Representative (DER)
  • Familiarity with experimental aircraft certification processes
  • Previous experience advocating for new regulatory standards within the aerospace industry


Pay Range

$134,640-$185,130 USD
